Dispute during Debate of Agenda of NA Regular Sittings
1 / 13

On March 2, during the debate of the of the agendas of the sixth session of the NA seventh convocation and the regular sittings and the regular sittings some of the deputies touched upon the inner-political situation.

Tigran Urikhanyan addressed a question to the NA Speaker: “I would like to say something related to the agenda. Distinguished parliament, if you have noticed, there is crisis in the country, and the situation is extreme. The inner-political situation needs solution.” The MP proposed the parliament to find solution, and in response to that Ararat Mirzoyan noted that versions for the solution of the situation had been proposed and a proposal had been made in public by the Prime Minister: “It is possible to sit, debate and to find solution.”

The Head of the RA NA Bright Armenia Faction Edmon Marukyan touched upon the demand on convening the NA extraordinary sitting voiced by the NA opposition. “Mr Mirzoyan, you as NA Speaker, is obliged to be unbiased in such issues and play a role of arbiter. If there was a decision that the Council sitting should not be held and boycotted, then you should come, open it and let us know about it, what you had not done.” Marukyan has accused the NA Speaker in not having a role in the solution of the inner-political situation and has urged him to resign, and in response to that Ararat Mirzoyan has noted that he does his obligations in decent way. “On health, political or, perhaps other reasons I did not take part in your mentioned sitting that day, it is one of my rights, not obligation,” the NA Speaker underlined, urging the deputy to pay more attention to his own obligations. According to Ararat Mirzoyan, Edmon Marukyan’s this statement is an attempt aimed at making complicated the situation.

The Secretary of the Prosperous Armenia Faction Arman Abovyan has opined that there is an impression that the parliament is completely cut from the reality. He also touched upon the proposal of the NA opposition to convene an extraordinary sitting. “You have decided that the parliament is the property of My Step. Why don’t you come? And you generate tension from morning till morning. You would come and vote against,” he has said noting that the agenda items of the regular sittings are out of reality. “You deliberately paralyze the work of the parliament,” he underlined. The deputy of My Step Faction Hayk Konjoryan has addressed Arman Abovyan, noting that he is a member of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, but he has not taken part in any dispute out of 14 online debates. “You have never had a dispute with the Azerbaijani delegates and never put them in their places, as you wish to do now with us,” he said.

The agendas of the session and the regular sittings were approved after this dispute.
